Aculife® Cylinder Treatments

Cylinder conditioning plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of many types of electronic grade specialty gases. Since most gases must be stored in metal cylinders that have reactive interior surfaces consisting of oxides or other complexities, cylinder treatments must be employed to reduce or eliminate these layers and replace them with inert surfaces. Scott's Aculife treatments accomplish this, making cylinder interiors that are: Clean and corrosion resistant Free of most particles Free of most chemisorbed moisture Inert to gaseous content Free of absorbed gases or vapors

Aculife cylinder treatments enable Scott to deliver electronic specialty gases containing fewer impurities that remain stable for longer periods of time. For example: AsH3, a highly reactive gas that decays almost immediately when contained in a clean but untreated cylinder, remains stable at low-ppm concentrations for one year when contained in an Aculife treated cylinder. Aculife makes it possible for Scott to offer electronic grade specialty gases with low moisture levels that would otherwise not be possible .
